Please support the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act Right now, our laws contain a glaring loophole that is keeping our horses vulnerable to the brutal practice of horse slaughter: it is still legal to ship American horses across the border to Mexico or Canada to be slaughtered, a tragic fate that befell tens of thousands of these majestic animals last year.

Every year, they are crammed into overheated, double-decker trailers and transported across our borders. Many do not even survive the journey, and the ones that do are slaughtered in unnecessarily brutal ways.

This practice must be stopped -- but Senator Mary Landrieu needs your help to do it.
